The NAOJ ALMA project invites proposals for the ALMA workshop 2021b call.
The ALMA workshop program provides a unique opportunity for the Japanese community members to hold dedicated workshops that are closely related to the scientific and technical aspects of the ALMA telescope. The scope of the workshop can be, for example, detailed planning for the upcoming ALMA proposal call, formation of new research groups, or development of new instruments which are closely related to the ALMA telescope. Workshops aimed specifically for the upcoming proposal call are highly encouraged in this regard.
Under normal circumstances, the successful PIs of the ALMA workshop are allocated a certain amount of budget which can be used to invite domestic and international researchers and to support domestic students. However, as of October 2021, NAOJ is unable to organize large-scale face-to-face meetings due to the continuing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore no budget can be allocated this time for this purpose. While we all hope the pandemic to cease in the near future, we understand the community's need of holding workshops even under these unusual circumstances, particularly in preparation for the Cycle 9 call for proposals. Therefore, as a special measure to cope with the current situation, the NAOJ ALMA Project solicits ALMA workshop 2021b proposals with the conditions described below.
